    Nanocom in Melbourne

    Hi LR friends,
I was planning to get a stage 2 remap from td5inside, however I don't have a nanocom device nor I know any one who owns one. Would there be any gentlemen in Melbourne willing to help? I am happy to contribute towards your investment or your beer belly.
I live in northern Melbourne- Greenvale, but I can travel.

    Many thanks in advance.

    MG

If you have no success with someone closer feel free to PM me.

    Hi Jazzman,
Thank you for the offer, I will do the trip if no one is closer.
May I ask, how long it took td5inside to reply with a new map?

I have a td5 nanocom, and am in Forest Hill if that is any use to you. Work in the city if that works as well.

Thumbs up Reply times et alia

Jose replied almost immediately to our original request, but the map file was delayed for some reason at his end for a day or two.

The effect of the Stage 2 remap was quite noticeable in our 255000 km 2003 Disco.

    1. Gone was the hesitation off the line, so much so that a situation SWMBO found herself in doing a U-turn was made very safe - the car took off like a rocket when she floored it.
    2. Fuel economy is on par with the std map when not towing.
    3. The remove and reinstall of the map was seamless with nanocom evo.
    4. The map is portable - belonging to me.
    5. It tows now really well, holding in gears longer as a result of the increased power and torque. We tow a 1.5T camper and have noticed better fuel economy towing compared with the std map, and much better driveability.

FWIW, I reckon it was $$ well spent.

And Timdo1, Nano is very handy for many other things beyond remapping....

    Cheers
    Pete

    Hi timbo1,

I bought my Nonocom originally because i'm going to Cape York in June and wanted to make sure I could quickly fault find anything that might go wrong, also to be able to reset error codes that cause limp home mode should it happen.

However since purchasing my Nanocom it has proved quite useful. I've been able to establish and rectify why one of the lights kept coming up on the dash and randomly flash. Can't remember which light (NOT 3 amigos) it was a loose connector under the steering column. I've also determined my MAF had failed, and shortly because I've rebuilt my engine and the fuel injectors have been cleaned so well the numbers I wrote on them are no long visible, I believe i'll be able to use my nanocom to train the ECU with whatever it needs to know about the injectors to run correctly. (Haven't done it before so the terminology is wrong)

Lastly it has enabled me to get a remap that I will install for the first time once the engine has been run in and i'm satisfied everything is running OK. It was going to cost a approx the same price to purchase a Nanocom and a remap from TD5inside as it was going to cost to get the cheapest remap somewhere in Aus. A remap from Wholesale Automatics (4WD Action) was about $2k if i recall correctly, not the cheapest.

So in my experience it is worth the expense for the remap alone, but you will get far more value out of it. It is the kind of thing when you need it, there is no other substitute and you wish you had one. (There are other ECU readers like Hawkeye for example and Roverload Off Road Spares also sell one, Nanocom is the most commonly used one that enables you to remap)

Sorry for the delayed response. It took about a week I think. They were doing to comp when I ordered my tune so it took longer than normal.
