Carpets wet? , or blowing it out the exhaust , nowhere else for it to go other than on the ground
Hi Guys
The TD5 Disco has been losing coolant for some time now at an increasing rate of about 2 litres per 1000kms ... at first I thought it was to top of the radiator where the screw holding the fan shroud actually goes into the radiator. Filled with silicon and put in a shorted screw on both sides. Stopped that leak.
There is no sign of coolant leaking anywhere else!
Not leaking through the cap (it's new), not out the overflow and no sign of coolant in the oil.
Any suggestions of where to look next greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

Check to see if the coolant tank is over pressuring and dumping fluid out the overflow pipe. Also check for small bubbles in the coolant tank. These are symptoms of a leaking head gasket. That said, fluid being dumped out the over flow is usually quite obvious. Depending on where the head gasket leak is the fluid may also end up in the exhaust.

Check the coolant pipe from the passenger side of the radiator to the metal pipe under the fan. Mine was leaking from the connection to the metal pipe. Another hose clamp solved my problem.
coolant runs through your heater matrix via two pipes running from firewall on drivers side to the matrix , if you can get your finger under the carpet directly below the drivers side footwell vent you may be able to feel if the area is wet. If it is and it smells of coolant then either the pipes or the matrix is leaking. it is possible for it to be wet from that area if you have a blocked air con drain but i don't imagine that would be getting much use at this time of year.
cheers
In my case with those symptoms it was a blown head gasket and a cracked head.
Cheers

First time i've had this it was a small leak at the oil cooler entry which occured only when the engine was hot and it evaporated instantly... i found it only after i bought this kit UV Dye & UV Torch Kit Leak Detection Dye For Cooling Antifreeze System RLD2 Ring | eBay
second time it was a crack in the first inlet port and the coolant was atomised in the combustion chamber without leaving any trace... ended up to pressure test the head when the detection kit didnt show any traces![]()
