Glad you got it sorted. Did you swap it out for another standard spec converter or did you go the upgraded/lower stall option?

Do you mind sharing the costs associated? I'm pretty sure I'm in the same boat.

    Cheers.

The total in the end was $4302.05.

The guy works on the cost of doing ten divided by 10 for the average. So clearly some jobs cost a little less than others. In my case there was some extra work that needed to be done, I can't see it on the invoice, but there's some part that isn't made any more that was damaged with the metal that was swirling around the box from the TC that can be repaired by a place in Melbourne.

The cost covers all labour to remove and replace, also to flush the trans cooling system which also had metal in it.

The invoice states perform major transmission rebuild and torque converter rebuild.

Of course I have no idea what that truly means.

Given the cost of the trans rebuild is quoted at 3010, I found that you can get a ZF factory refurbed one for about the same price, but then I'd need to add in freighting and it still didn't cover the labour.

    At the end there's a 2 yr/40k km warrenty.

All up, it always sucks to pay out so much money, but I guess one way to look at it is that I didn't get this from new, so I'm paying forward on big items that need doing. I guess the offset is paying a price low enough to absorb some of those costs.

I got a quote from ZF in Sydney about 2 weeks ago for torque converter and box for 4000. I was unimpressed, got package from Ashcroft coming for same or less in a few weeks.

ZF price was for stock box and tq. Aschroft is cooler, pipes, hd flex plate, hd tq and delivery via air. ZF were.... uncompetitive IMHO.
