    P38 4.6l into a D2

    Hi guys,

Can anyone help me out with some information regarding the P38 engine.

The D2 is in need of some engine work and I am considering picking up an early (late 1990's) P38 4.6l V8 setup for dual fuel for the engine.

My question is, what would I need to change to run the engine in a 2002 D2?

Is it only the intake etc. that is different or are they actually the same?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I you get the pre 99 engine it has a different crank angle sensor and doesn't work without major mods. If it's a 99 on with Bosch injection it's identical to the D2 engine.

Thanks mate, that's what I was after.

So the gas system on a post 99 will be fine too.

I assume it will all work with the D2 wiring loom if they are the same engine.

    P38 4.6l into a D2

What's wrong with using an earlier p38 4.6 block and heads (probably thicker casting than 99/2000) and just welding in the different bracket for the crank angle sensor and changing the sprocket for the cam sensor and then bolting up all the 4,0 Thor intake and fuel and lpg injection....?

The earlier 4.6 should have knock sensor brackets but if not they can be spotted on the side too.

Try to source a 9.35 to 1 compression motor if you can.

If you are hunting for a 4.6 with gas on already then it must be a Thor 4.6 with vapour injection not a mixer.

    Cheers

I used what must have been an early block without knowledge. Just swapped everything over, ground the weld out of the CKP plate and fitted the 4.0 one with drill and roll pins. Everything else just fitted.

Oh and PLEASE use ARP studs.
