    removal of factory roof rack

Thanks in advance for any help, I have just brought a safety devices roof rack from the uk, mine is for the no factory roof rack so I will have to remove them. What I am thinking of is getting a turned plug made of metal and painting it Essex green. What metal would be the best ie aluminum ,steel or brass etc? This way I could screw the plugs down tight the same way the factory racks are secured. Also would I be better making a gasket or using silicone to waterproof them. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Pete

I purchased my Disco with the rails already removed.

Have a look at Ovesco and you should be able to find the threaded caption plug you require similar to what has been installed on my roof.

A type of sealer was used as well once installed to prevent leaks. No idea how long mine has been done but is has been through three Darwmin wet seasons now with no leaks.

    Cheers Chris
