    Another weird electrical fuse problem

I dropped Charlie into the panel beaters last week to get the rear bumper straightened and fix a small ding in the roof caused by backing into a tree in the driveway at home

Picked the car up today and noticed that that the interior lights, radio and clock weren't working and also the passive immobilisation was not disarming, unless I locked and unlocked the car.

So back to the panel beater thinking that they may not have properly connected the security ECU and interior lights when they dropped the roof lining.

First stop was to check fuses. Clock and radio are on the same fuse (16 under dash) but it was OK. Next we checked the engine immobilisation fuse (20 under dash) which was blown. Replaced fuse with a spare and radio and clock started working, along with interior lights and disarming the passive immobiliser. So go figure.....

Thumbs up to the panel beater who dropped everything to help me, even though he had 2 tow trucks bringing in cars at the time.

After my experience last month, with the dash lights being tied to the 30amp trailer fuse, I'm beginning to wonder what fuses actually protect what and what fuses are piggybacked on others in the D2.

    Cheers

That fuse also covers diagnostics, do you have a nanocom?
If someone unplugged it at the nanocom and plugged it back in slightly crooked it may have blown.

    Thanks!

Yes I noted that the fuse also covered the diagnostics, so when I got home I plugged the nanocom in to check. All seems to be fine......

It's a trap remembering to unplug from the vehicle first with the nanocom. Pity the RS-232 plug doesn't have a longer pin that can be used as an earth like the OBD2 plug.

    Cheers
