TD5 LHD PS Pitman / Drop Arm no bush type

    Hi All,

Looking for some help here regarding the Pitman / Drop Arm type.

I've got a 1999 Disco II TD5 Left Hand Drive.

When I first got the Disco, I notices that there was alot of play in the ball joints, so got the local indy to fit some HD Track Rods and Drag Links with replaceable ball joints. The kind from Paddocks PM023.

I didn't have all my tools at that stage, so needed someone to do it for me, plus do the alignment at the same time.

There was still some play in the steering, so I've tightend up the PS backlash a little.

But whilst I was rocking the steering column to check backlash, I noticed that the ball joint from the drag link has a lot of play in the pitman arm hole.

Looking at it, it seems the hole is larger than the pin for the ball joint and probably had a pressed in ball joint in the pitman arm they they've just pressed out and fitted the drag link with ball joint on the link.

Searching the interwebs, I find all sorts of possible pitman arms for the LHD disco II 99, some with ball joints, some without and a much smaller hole.

Could there really be multiple different types? Could it be possible that I had a ball joint in the pitman arm?

    So far I've found:
    QJF100150
    ANR4382

    And a few others.

Or could it be that mine is totally stuffed and worn out?

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks all!

Hi The Drop arm ( pitman arm ) for the Left hand drive Disco is QJF100150

The ANR4383 is the drop arm for the Range Rover P38 to Vin WA.

Yes it probably is correct that you have an elongated hole in your existing arm.
A replacement QJF100150 and a new tie rod end should fix you problem

    Regards,
    Mario
