    Hydrastatic fan D2a Td5

Got told today that the bearing in my fan is worn, the fan moves back and forth a bit.
Can someone tell me what's involved in removal/replacement and any special tools needed please.

Also can it be done without removing the radiator?

    Cheers guys

    Hey Bud,
Is it the fan that needs doing or the bearing it's mounted to via the pulley?
Give the fan a wobble and see if the belt pulley is moving with it, if so it's the bearing.
If it's the bearing have a read of this...

A few threads on the forum too.
I've got a home made tool for doing the pulley and the Allen drive if you need them.
    Cheers, Kyle

Thanks Kyle, that is a great tutorial. Showed me that I don't have most of what I need to do it

I wonder if I might be able to impose on you and the workshop at some stage?

Just make sure you get the right ABEC number bearing. In most cases a higher ABEC is a good thing as the bearing is made to tighter tolerances. I had great difficulty fitting my new bearing and I blame it on the high ABEC bearing. It was more expensive but it was all I could get off the shelf nere in Darwin. I used dry ice to cool the bearing and a hot air gun to heat the housing.

    Happy Days.

Me too, it's a bit hard to type as you drive eh? Good thing it's a bit quiet this time of day.
