I would imagine the seats would just be a bolt in job.
However, to dot the "I"s, what is the seating capacity stated on the compliance plate?
How easy is it to fit the 3rd row of seats?
Is it just a simple bolt in job or is there more to it than that?
With people using Discovery's for the trip round Australia and with space being a premium I would have thought there would be some 3rd row seats lurking in peoples garages, if so any for sale?

Not quite a bolt in job, you would need to get the whole shabang, seats / mounts, floor mounts/side trim/seat belts/head rests etc.

Like loanrangie said. I took my 3rd row seats out (& the fold down head rests) to fit drawers ... The seats come out without to much fuss BUT all the extra stuff like the different profile sides that the seats fold into (instead of the std bins), seat belts, etc all remain in the vehicle. Mine has rear a/c so the LHS trim panel is a different shape (deeper). I think a lot of 7 sweaters had rear a/c ... If you don't have rear a/c there would be a lot of wasted space behind the trim panel.
If you want to do it properly, you need to find a 7 seater donor (without rear a/c) and transfer the _complete_ rear end interior.
... Or sell it and buy a 7 seater!

As stated above - find a donor vehicle and transfer all the necessary bits across - easily done. I did it with just one additional seat. The side trim, and trim above the rear door is different if you get the fold down headrest. The hardest part of the whole deal was cutting the carpet to fit the floor plate. All the bolt holes are there - just remember to remove the plastic bungs from the floor bolt holes before trying to thread a bolt into place. The seat belt was easy to bolt up.
There is also the grab handle above the rear side window.
Not necessary but can be handy is get the rear fold down step to aid egress in and out.
I only installed the drivers side, so did not have to worry about the different passenger side differences due to rear air or not.
If you get the chance it would be ideal if you are going to install it is to actually remove it from the donor then you know how it should all go back together.
