I usually go by what the tire manufacturer recommends on the sidewall, then let out about 5 psi and see how it handles..
Just checking!
I've got road tyres, standard size on standard 16" rims.
Read in the owners manual that the front tyres should be 190kpa and the rears 260kpa.
Now the front tyre just don't look right and the steering obviously feels a bit heavier, so what pressures would you let reccomend?
Thanks in advance.
PS I did do a search but couldn't find the answer, did learn a bit on off sets!

Have always used the book figures - particularly after I put on the Goodyear Silent Armour. On their sidewall it says to use vehicle manufacturer recommended pressure (or words to that effect).

I run 38 psi all round.
I might get a toasting for this but in truth the owners book will give you pressure`s for that Oooo this rides so nice feeling.
In the real world we want handling and safety and tyre life to be longer so i run about 40 psi in the rear and about 36-38 psi in the front![]()
Just put 38psi all round, 38pis must be the same as 260kpa as the "ting, ting, ting" came on straight away.
I'll leave it at this and see how I go.
Thank you for all your input guys, appreciate it.
Placard + 5 psi![]()
I made several live tests in this area, the fact is that the ABS system is 'calibrated' from factory for those tyre sizes and pressures from the owner's handbook, take into account that any difference will have effect on how the TC, EBD and ABS are acting... the ABS system will behave EXACTLY as it was conceived if the tyre sizes and pressure are EXACTLY like in the book, the deceleration threshold rates will be affected with a percentage equal with the difference between the recommended sizes and pressures and the real ones... it's not something scary i just wanted to warn yous to be aware of that especially if huge tyres are involved...though i dont think that there will be much icy roads in Australia![]()
