    Brutus.

With my series lands restoration fairly stagnant and the need for a car that can comfortably seat 5-6 people SWMBO released funds to buy a 7 seater vehicle which I could drive the family around in. yesterday I picked up a 2001 disco 2 which should fit the bill nicely, and after hearing 3 people refer to it as a 'brute' in various sentences I have named it Brutus. My 3 year old approves of the name so it's all good.

Brutus has a few miles on the clock and a bunch of cosmetic problems, and a part of me thinks I have bought a fairly major issue down the line somewhere but after a test drive I really really wanted it. That could just have been landrover withdrawals though as it's been 5 years since I drove my defender and rolling bob up and down the drive hasn't managed to curb the addiction. Still, for better or worse I have bought myself another green oval fix.

Ok, details, it's a 4.0 v8, with a leather interior, though the suede on the doors is going to be one of the first things that's replaced as its tatty and I hate suede. The interior in general doesn't seem bad, the cup holders in the front need a new clip and the back won't open but I suspect some brute force and ignorance will sort that out, the roof lining was sagging but the guy in the dealership said he had a good fix for it, though multicoloured drawing pins would not have been my first choice... Oh well it will do for now and seems to work, might paint them to match the trim studs. Which moves me on to the missing trim studs, about 6 in total.

The exterior is similar, not bad but a few cosmetic details, the main one is some hefty paint fading on the roof but i have experience with a sprayer now, just need to colour match the green. The back bumper has taken a knock on the passenger side, slight dent in the body there too, and the spotlights are not connected but I may remove those as I am not blind!

He seems to run well, is really comfortable and after driving a mini for the past year feels like driving a cruise liner, though I have no real clue what sort of things to look out for issue wise. Any advice on what to expect/look out for would be awesome as usually if something is left broken for too long it takes something else with it. Anyways, to the pictures!

Don't chuck those lights out. They look like Super Oscars. I have a set on my td5.
I have been using them for years and will only have them. They are very good.
    Regards Nick.
PS. Nice car, by the way.

It appears you are right, just had a quick look and they have super Oscar on the glass, the covers on them are a bit smashed but the lights themselves seem ok from what I could see in the dark. Honestly I don't know much about spots but if they are a good set I might think about wiring them up properly. Looks like they were just latched onto the main beams without relays or anything, though there are 2 redundant switches inside which they could also be wired too. I have some detection work to do!

Nice looking Disco Dan = good colour combo.

Perhaps the first job might be the addition of an engine saver. It'd be number one one my list.
