    Whats the difference?

    Hi there,

What's the difference between a 15P and a 16P engine, mainly differences between the cylinder heads...........

    Thanks in anticipation

For the cylinder head I think its:
    15P - 2X External fuel galleries
    16P - 1X Internal 1X External fuel galleries

Also the pistons and injectors are different. 16P higher pressure injectors and pistons are different to change the compression I think. Something to do with higher pressure fuel allows more precise fuel injection which changes the air fuel ratio and combustion.

    Hi Jazzman,
Thanks for the info, reading this I am assuming that the 15P head won't reside on a 16P engine. Saved me a bit of embarrassment there.......... good one.

Isn't that the difference between 10P and 15P?

Actually there isn't much difference between the 15p and 16p engines. The major changes occurred in 2002 with the change from the euro2 10p engine to the euro3 15p. The 10p had both fuel lines in the head while to 15/16p had the return line external. 10p also had the lower pressure injectors. Post #10 in the following thread gives a bit more detail.

Long story short the head for a 15p should be the same as a 16p

    Cheers

Ps Marty we met at your neighbour Des's earlier in the year

Always happy to help but turns out I might have mislead you by mistake.
