Hi Keith , if you spray some water on the belt away from the tensioner pulley and the squeak goes away briefly then its the belt.
Cheers
I have a 2004 auto v8 disco2 with 150,000km
Lately the chirping sound is getting worse and will quieten after the car gets warm,
I've had a look under the Bonnet and pin pointed the noise to be from
The pulley area. I first thought it could of been the tensioner ? I've used a hose to my ear to try see if I can see where it is from ? I put it up to the tensioner and can't tell if it is from there? Maybe there's a bit of acoustic and it's hard to hear where exactly it's from ?
I first sprayed wd40 "yes I know I shouldn't" on the tensioner and the sound stops for about 5 minutes.. Then back again so I was thinking it was the tensioner ? But i thought I'd try and just put it on the belt ? And the sound goes away for the same amount of time? So now I'm guessing it may be the belt ?
I can't see any damage to the belt from having a rough look around ?
Just after what others may think it is before I start hacking away?
Push comes shove I will replace belt and tensioner

you could take the belt off and check the pulleys---
my green D2 had a belt like swiss cheese(only 80K) but was still silent,,
