    rather fuel than over heated trans fluid
    you all realise that LR did this TD5 slippage thing because the engine wont pull the skin off a rice pudding,,,,,

    Bang on , the only drawback with this is for owners who live in the country ( like me ) or going straight onto a freeway if in a city, then it's pretty inefficient , unless you have manual lockup , the only problem there is if locked up too early the trans will run too cold which is not great either.

    Hi , see Pedro's link , that's a really good explanation, but essentially lock up makes it pretty much a direct drive between engine to output shaft.

    no no its for when they are on the drag strip , lots of drag cars run high stall torque converters.
