That sound is normal, it's because the modulator gets ignition power and the system runs the self check
Hi Guys,
Just recently when starting my 99 V8 auto, it sounds like the TC is activating for a second as the engine starts. All the lights go out as they should and There are no other issues that I can pick, other than sometimes when hop off a kerb leaving work it surprises how easily the TC will activate. I am not experienced with the Land Rover TC system which may explain the latter issue but I'm sure the activation on start up can't be correct?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sierrafery. I've just put the exhaust back to standard, replacing a blown out straight through centre section with a genuine centre box. It was loud so maybe I just never really noticed it before![]()
It should do it every time just that the sound is dependent of the system's residual pressure and that can be different from one case to another that's all

Yep normal behaviour, but if you start the car and switch it off without moving it it won't do the test when you start again.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks again guys,
Yea Pedro, the new box has made such a difference to the ride enjoyment! I must be getting old, I used to want the loudest exhaust possible, how things have changed!
Keep your foot gently on the brake pedal then and at least you'll feel it, it's just a very short sequence![]()
