I haven't done it, but it sounds like a good idea.
If you go ahead please could you share your build?
Hi as the title suggests has anyone every turned one of the rear storage bins into a water tank using some sort of flexible or solid water container/bladder?
I calculate there would be enough room to fit about 30-35L of water.
And behind the little pop out vent there is enough room to fit a little pump. Has anyone done this? If so how did you achieve it? or maybe just a bad idea?....
thanks guys..

I had 3rd row seats and rear a/c, so I could be off the mark, but do you think the outer cover of the bin is good to hold back 30-35kg of water sloshing around in a bladder ?
A rigid sided tank, yes .... A bladder ... ???
... just saying ...

Les Ricmond had a solid water tank they fitted into the load area of the their rangies over the andd behindd the wheel arch area. Perhaps they have something to fit a D2 now they are doing their storm vehicles?

The 50 litre bladder from Whitworths marine may fit with some good holding system in place as mentioned and could work well.
But I used these bladders in the rear footwells for 4 reasons:
Lower centre of gravity
Can run a flexy fold away hose easily out the door so don't need a pump
Can fill them right up to 50 litres in this position
When loaded with camping gear etc the D2 is already tail heavy so you want extra weight nearer the centre of the vehicle
Have pics if u need.

1 bladder behind the drivers seat and the other in place of the LH rear seat which was removed.

I fitted a third battery in the LH space and a water container in the RH space. I thought the panels were plastic and cut out the lower segments they are fibreglass! It started badly but ended well. I fitted marine ply in place of the cut out sections this allowed the battery and water container to site back flush and allow the removable draw set to be the maximum width. I will post images on Friday.
