    I give the edge of the sump a light spray with contact adhesive - sticks the gasket to it and its easier to manouver back on.

    A useful trick for next time - thanks. My only problem with the gasket was that it did not fit. I could not press it over the edge without it popping up somewhere. I reckon I could cut 3mm out of one long side and it would be perfect. But leak.....
