    TD5 fanbelt go squeak squeak

I'm trying to hear the centrifugal filter spinning, I hear the fan belt go squeak squeak squeak squeak. I know it's not the fan bearing, that was replaced by Ritter, So what else could it be? I'd like to get on top of this sooner rather than later.

    Thanks

    Bo

What do you want to get on top of, the belt squeak or the centrifugal filter noise?

Belt squeak on multi rib belts is either worn belt, loose belt or misaligned.
On the TD5 misalignment is either a failed (idler,AC,fan, alternator) bearing or tensioner.
But...it could also be a harmonic balancer giving up.
    Has the belt been replaced?

A worn-out tensioner pulley is the more common cause for a squeak from the belt area of the TD5. Next step is for it to seize and destroy the belt in the process.

    squeak

I have been told that coolant spilt on a belt makes them squeak also.
I hope this is the case as it is the cheapest choice.

You'll hear the centrifugal filter spinning when you've got clean oil and you turn the motor off. After an oil change it should spin for 4 or 5 seconds. Easily heard.

The belt squeak, as I am now an "expert" at replacing the centrifugal filter.

Nothing in RAVE, that I've found on how to change the belt tensioner.

check your exhaust manifold the sound they make when leaking is just like a belt squeak , look for soot around where it bolts to the head and for missing studs

    belts dont squeak
its the moving parts that squeak.
tensioner pulleys, alternator bearings, PS bearings, ACE bearings,
    theres no shortage
Take the belt off (maybe a phone pic beforehand?) run all the pulleys by hand, that will soon tell you which one is making the noise.
