A factory V8 will never do that... A V8 with an economy tune and some fettling will...

They need a centre muffler to not sound obnoxious or droney (straight through being obnoxious, rear res in place being droney).

Remove the rear res and fit a high flow centre muffler and they are sweet as pie...

My RV8 makes the Falcodore guys jealous with how smooth it is right through the range...

I have also achieved that at a constant 60 or 70 kph but sorry I dont accept an average around town or at highway speeds of 11l per 100 k and not much more when towing. I have high flow cats, free flow muffler etc. Even when my truck was new and just under 2 tonns and empty, no bullbar etc i did not average 11l per 100k. 14 was the best. I have never heard of 11 as an average so this is quite the revelation .
    Cheers

And a 5 speed manual gets better economy if driven well.than an auto. Cheers

Ps MRLR what fettling saves 2-3 l per 100k...i would think at least new cast heads from the UK, roller rockers, flow tested fuel injection tune...even then i would be dubious.

Make it breathe properly, and a quality map and maybe cams if you want to get fancy...

I have had a high torque cam and porting work done. Made more grunt but didn't use less fuel. It would require new cast heads as well as cam, but LR did a LOT of research for the best cam for a good balance between economy and grunt...no magic answers to this one. It's speculation and I don't know anyone who has achieved the best of both worlds,

    Cheers

From a site called car data for a 9.35 CR. D2 These are official figures so can be construed as pretty much the best you could get.

    Regards Philip A

    Fuel consumption (economy) - urban 23.3 (22.9) l/100 km. Fuel consumption (economy) - extra urban 12.7 (13.1) l/100 km. Fuel consumption (economy) - combined 16.6 (16.7) l/100 km.

I meant to be tuned for economy...

Most of it is in the tune.

The DPL 5.0L's go harder and use less fuel than a stock 4.6, go figure.

Emissions **** restricts the crap out of them... Beurocratic nonsense!
