Thread: I need more seats!!

    I need more seats!!

    So I bought my first LR and it was exactly what I wanted; D2 upgrade, black, V8, low kms (143xxx), leather, sunroof.... Everything just perfect until this coming January when our family gets a little bigger and instead of 5 we need six seats. The idea with this truck was as a fun weekender but good to use as a second car on a regular basis. Anyway... the dilemma, do I;
    A] try and purchase a third row seat set and turn into to a seven seater

    B]try and sell and upgrade to a seven seater?

    The issue with option A] is matching all of the seat material and interior parts that need to be added to make it a factory look, and in the end is this legal anyway if originally a five seater. (Yes I know this has been debated on here before and I believe it depends on each states registration laws and your insurance company)

    The issue with option B] is my experience with buying and selling second hand vehicles is that you always pay to change over cars. To be honest I would probably upgrade to a D3 (probably blasphemy on this part of the forum!!) but I am a little frustrated by the lack of aftermarket gear for a D2a being such a small run of vehicles.

    I guess there is a third option which would be to sell and purchase a 7 seater of another make but I am just getting to like the whole LR thing...

    I know its my call but any opinions are welcome

    Add a seat and buy some seat covers, so no matching is necessary. Or sell a child...

    You will probably find that the compliance plate on the car has 7 seats on it. I have some brown leather seats but no plastic. Was going to do the same thing. but sealing the back off and putting storage boxes in the rear windows.

    But most the Disco 2 gear will fit a D2a, there is is little difference between then except some cosmetic changes. What sort of Aftermarket stuff are you lacking?

    Specifically I have been trying to get hold of a bullbar but would have settled for a nudge or brush bar in desperation - nothing that comes up second hand seems to suit a 2003 model.

    Think there is a D2a bullbar ARB at Tas Auto recycles. If that's any help. I have always found D2a gear for sale spare. Not D2 lol

    One thing to consider if you put in the 3rd row of seats: Being that it was originally a 5 seater - their is no provisions for AC / Heat to the 3rd row, and the kids will get pretty hot and stuffy in the back ok for a short trip but of a trip of any length their could be a fair bit of complaning from the way back. A 12volt fan mounted where the grab handles would be position does help.

    Do the 5 seaters have inside handles on the tailgate?
