Hey, I found rescue tape can hold the top hose together if the thread collapses, at last the 750km from Barrow Creek to Uluru it lasted for me when I had a chance to replace the hose!Quote:

Earthing the sensor wire for the water sensor should tell you if it is the sensor or the module that is causing the problem.
If the water alarm stops when you earth the sensor wire, then it would be the sensor that is the problem.
If the alarm keeps sounding when the sensor wire is earthed, then the module is the problem.

I would say Kevs sensor was dirty enough to bridge the earth.
You only need to finger tighten the sensor,even the factory one wasnt designed for tool tightening.

Yeah Andrew ... Finger tight !! The black crud on the sensor didn't "wipe" off like folks said who replied to my original post ... I scrubbed it with a piece of denim cloth, nope! Took to it with a small fine brass wire brush .... Ahhhh, shiny!! Took a bit of effort to clean the black coating off ... Must be some reaction going on with the OAT and the various metal components in the cooling system.
Been thinking about this, and I put mine in before our big trip to the centre, which was in 2012. Haven't had it out except to purge the air from the system. Never had to clean it, coming up to 4 years now.
