hi guys i am in the process of rebuilding my d2 thor engine, well not exactly, still peicing together info on best tried and proven parts, its down to bare block, which incidently had light blue painted brush marks directly below front of heads ,does this colour represent the block rating?Iknow some of u guys will be saying, use the 4.6 but i am not convinced as yet why my 4.oltr cant b reused as all looks fine, still up in the air on this.i"d like 2 know what is better cam.Mine is in need of replacement along with lifters,i forgot to mention dual fuel i been advised to b very carefull choosing cam ,will the piper 270 suit i am only after alittle more mid range and econ,it was surprising to still see good cross hatch in bores and visibly no sighn of liner movement,i am yet to pressure test.like to go bigger valves and a little bit of port work for gas flow and breathing, hopefully get lots of good advice i can sift through to end up with a nice engine, any thing on this greatly appreciated, regards daryl

The blocks are the same, just different cranks.
The best blocks got the 4.6 cranks.
    Best being thickest cylinder walls.
    use MLS gaskets.
if it holds liquid, use a sealant.
    change the thermostat.

you can do all this and it might still drop a liner.
how much money are you willing to risk?

My 4.6l block is not the same as a 4.0l

After a few blown head gaskets in quick succession I used tin last time. No more blown head gaskets; well for 3 years anyway.

    Everyones still here,,
I dont know about the piper,, I used a Kent H180, standard valves.
    and stop swearing at us,,,
There are LOTS of V8 rebuild threads, you need to pick a $$$ amount and work backwards. I've spent 5 figures on mine, lots of people spend less, some more,,
did you look at the Link I posted? there is ALL the Tech info you need there, after that its up to you,,
