Sounds like a few sparrows under the bonnet?

Get under it and have a look. Move the shaft laterally.

If that's the original front shaft Markf at 375k I'll eat my hat. I'm on my third and at 220k. 70k of which is mine.
What about your version[bigrolf]

I got the car at ~320k km with a VERY complete service and repair record - service book stamped as well as receipts for everything right down to a servo in Seymour changing a headlight bulb. There's no record of a new prop shaft there so given the completeness of the service and repair records I _assume_ that I'm still on the original. The previous owner spared no expense and if it needed doing he got it done pronto I reckon.
I may be wrong of course and the prop shaft may have been changed along the way but the records that I have don't show it.
