It took some thinking. $10k to do both on a vehicle I now know almost everything about. Or spend $10k on something I have no idea about. Or spend a lot more on a newer 4wd. When my neighbour told me he had only done servicing and glow plugs on his holden colorado in ~600k I did nearly have a seizure.
Used 3 litres of Penrite Super Dot 4 Synthetic brake fluid to flush my braking system. Started with a Modulator bleed using Nanocom then moved to each bleeder (just crawled under...lift and bigger tyres makes working on these trucks so much easier) and used power bleed on Nanocom. Fluid discoloured and in need of a change. The braking is now excellent. Progressive, heaps of feel and heaps of even stopping power.
Nanocom is great for solo brake bleeding.
Next stop power steering fluid.

Wednesday my Discovery did an amazing thing, it didn't start!
A very flat battery, no remote unlocking, no dash lights, no alarum & no start.
So, I went to the container that holds such stuff & dragged out the old battery charger, hooked it up, turned it on & Bingo! It doesn't work.
No problem, go to the trailer tool box, pull out my personal battery charger, hook it up & Behold, it doesn't go either!
Now I'm getting annoyed, I figure it might be the fuse in my charger, 3/4 of an hour later once I find the spare fuse I discover it's not the fuse, the charger is simply old & stuffed.
After all this I buy a new battery charger, bigger & smarter & a whole lot more expensive than my old one.
7 hours later the Discover starts after without hesitation.
The moral of this story is ---
Drive the Bloody thing occasionally!!

PS It has been sitting for about 6 weeks because as the song says "No particular place to go."
Tested out the new radiator in Qld 37c at Buderim.
climbed the mountain behind a liebhorr something or other, probably a drill rig at about 5 kmh in37c with aircon on.
Temp rose from indicated 83c to 88c , probably really 90c.
I am happy.
