I finally bled the brakes. Now I push once on the brake to slow the car down. A first for me with this car. One thing, If I push the brake harder, it gives, pish harder again and the brake pedal gives again, i.e. the pedal moves down. Is this normal? I put 1.25L of brake fluid through and did a a modulator power bleed.
I also fitted the muddies, ready for the long weekend.
I find that a hill descent practice or even just an ABS application really firms up the pedal for quite a while. So find a steep hill and go for it.

yeah the D2 pedal is a bit squishy,, they do work very well though.
better than the brick wall that was the D1 pedal[thumbsupbig]
Inspired by Mr Swift, I finally extracted my digit and replaced the rear rotors, pads and hoses plus a flush and bleed late this arvo after it stopped raining.
They've only been sitting here for near twelve months.....
Actually only just returned from a bedding session.
I think the old girl had had more love in the last three weeks than the last eighteen combined [emoji23] .https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e9f16c1c77.jpg
With the brakes, I get the squishy bit happening when stationary. When slowing down, a slight push is very effective. Only one push, not the push, release and push for effect.
I had to cut down and remove a rather large peppercorn tree yesterday because it had a lot of dead wood on the top of it that was threatening to fall onto my boat.
I wouldnt have been able to do the job without my trusty old D2a as I used the winch to ensure the tree fell exactly where i wanted it to so that it didnt take out the fence and i had absolutely No trouble dragging the entire tree which I estimate to be about 2t out into a paddock to be burnt come winter time.
I have used the disco many times for similar jobs around the place But this is the biggest tree I have had to remove and I was a bit sceptical of the truck being able to drag so much dead weight without having to cut the tree up into smaller pieces.
All I had to do was select low range/lock the centre diff and the old girl pulled the lot away like a tractor, A little bit of wheelspin at first but once she got going there was no stopping her[thumbsupbig][bigrolf]
It never ceases to amaze me just how Capable and strong these old trucks are[thumbsupbig]
40 degree day here and with ac going flat out I turned left at idle into our road and noted the steering went heavy for a second. Did the same a few minutes later too.
Ah .#$@ not another problem I thought.
Lifted the bonnet and found no leaks from the PAS system but of course everything was stinking hot..so left it to cool o/n.
Next day I could not replicate the issue so I presume the hot weather caused either the pump to "fail" or perhaps the belt slipped momentarily ..but no ign light came on. If genuine then the pump at near 300 k klms is probably due for rebuild or replacement.
The steering unis are good as are the links ball joints etc.
Q: is it worth pump rebuild or just get new? ?
