1. Transfer Case suddenly leaking a lot (vs usual slow leak) :(
2. FPR leaking after new genuine one fitted ~12months ago
3. Resolved Overboost issue - leaking/deteriorated vacuum hose from intercooler pipe to wastegate modulator....Yay! Despite buying a new wastegate modulator needlessly! ;)
I took the spare off and stuffed in the cargo hold to see how I liked the look and feel without that extra 50 pounds hanging mercilessly off the back of my truck. Looks sexier and the ride is much improved. Now Im excited about getting a half-rack on the roof to keep the spare up top and have the back-end looking clean and polished!
Over the last few days drove from Moe to Oodnadatta towing a camper with nary a problem apart from dust ingress......:-)
Changed harmonic balancer just started to make noise and whilst in there fan pulley bearing but broke off little coolant return line on radiator with stupid elbow so nice shiny full alloy radiator on its way now
Bought mine from a guy in Melbourne, when picking it up noticed the odometer flashing 317,000. I pointed it out and was told "it just started since the last service". So, 300 or 500, I'm not really fussed but it's still a con if that is so.
Today I have started my first service on it, needed a breaker bar and socket to undo the sump plug, an extension on the alan key to get the auto drain and fill plugs out, Hercules himself must have tightened the spin on oil filter.
I'm certainly not looking forwards to the transfer case or diffs.
Ah, but the centrifuge filter bolts, two different size heads on the bolts that were not very tight at all but it was sealed with silastic.
Right, both bolts were stripped right out in the housing.
So, what am I doing today, well waiting for parts to come so I can finish the job, but idiots like the one who worked on the car before, friend of the family, should never touch another spanner!!
I had earlier emailed the chap I bought the vehicle from and asked if I could contact the mechanic to see if there were any known faults that I had not picked up yet. Got a prompt reply, happy that the car was going well and I was happy with it but the mechanic was not great with English so if I were to send the questions to him he would relay to the mechanic.
I mentioned the odometer and now, after several emails from me, still no answer, funny how attitudes change???????
Now to hook up my new Nanocom and see what has gone on.
Yeah, today I have plenty to do.
Cheers
Mike
