I have 2 of Safety Daves TPMS and very happy with both (and his after sales service) and which have performed faultlessly once set. Like Pedro, I get some weird differences from time to time. Sun seems to make a lot of difference to black tyres - mainly temp, with pressure nowhere near so variable. Like all such units you do need to change the batteries every couple of years - make sure you replace with the good versions!!!!

To my mind the greatest security is when towing. Have had a slow puncture start on the brick tandem and was "alarmed" almost immediately.

And his reversing camera for the van is brilliant - excellent size and view quality.

problem is when you have the issue between those stops, you have no idea other than the seat of your pants or the TPMS.
Mine paid for itself.

Drive was from Cobar to Broken Hill. Can't say I remember any bends along this road.
Took an couple of hours break at Cobar got brekkie, filled up kicked tyres, washed screen .. did all the usual stuff you do. No problems, just the expected bit of oil under the rear.
About 30 k or so west of Cobar I see a sign to a historic site north of the Barrier hwy. Interesting sticky nose, road was easy gravel, just some large gibber type rocks .. any modern car could do this road.
As soon as I got off the gravel and onto the highway, I check tyre pressures, all at the 36PSI I had in them from home. I check them every so often anyhow as the boredom of straight road and endless flat horizon .. beautiful as it may be .. still boring!

Back now on the hwy to Broken Hill, about 30 mins or so, I hear a strange beeping .. annoying even. Totally forgot about the TPMS warning. I remember seeing the 36PSI, not even half an hour prior.
I'm always checking the gauges, but this time due to the 40+ outside ambients, had more interest in coolant and EGT, so TPMS must have got neglected.
But that's not an issue, this is why we set low PSI limits. Took me a good 10 sec to realise that the beeping was the TPMS, had it set to 18PSI, left rear got ANOTHER puncture.
This was with the Yoko G012's .. terrible tyres for puncture resistance. Far too many in the time I had them.
Had a tyre kit with me, but only an hour or two from Wilcannia .. surely I could get someone else to bust their nuts in the 40 degree heat to fix the tyre. Nup! ended up at Broken Hill, using the TPMS to monitor the tyre, down to 20 PSI, pull up at a rest stop .. with all the goats .. and continue on.
Would lose 20 PSI every 30 mins or so, so I reckon I had about 5 stops or so by the time I got to BH(where they fixed it). No issues for the trip back home.

Mine was just a cheapie off ebay. plugs into the ciggie port, comes on with the ignition, off when ign off.
Has external screw on sensors.
Originally got an internal higher specced and priced system from a shop, worked for about 6 hours and then each sensor dropped out where none would work.
Took it back to shop, chap tried to get it to work .. zero result, he gave me another. Still have it, 3 years later.
With the $70 cheapie off ebay .. not a single issue, and I eventually found out that it did what it was there to do too!

Only problem is in deep sand if you try to use less than 15PSI, you may need to remove the sensors off the valves. Can't get it less than 15PSI, so I'd have to set min pressure to more than this .. the beeping would drive you insane.

I remember seeing Andrew StP White doing a review on the ARB TPMS .. what a laugh.
Posted a comment for him to be smarter than he usually is, and just get a cheapie set off ebay .. the cheap price is worth the effort and risk.
Got dad one too, his is solar powered, got Bro in Law to get himself some for his cars too .. he loves them too.
So far, the 4 out of 4 cheapies off the bay have all been exemplary in their operation.

Is the screen fixed? if so, do you use the ciggie plug? and if so again can you see the screen easily(considering the location).

Mine has a swivel screen, I felt that to be important for the unit I got.
My model is THIS type, I think I paid about $60-70 or so, but like I said I got a few at the same time, can't remember exactly.
Dad got the Solar unit model, back then these were also in the $60 + price range .. good to see them come down.

Mine works just as perfectly as I wanted it too. As said earlier did the job it was supposed too, and is non intrusive at the same time(obviously until it needs to be).
Turns on/off with the car.

Dads solar unit is 'always on' in that while the solar is active due to light, or it's internal battery is charged .. it's always on.
Dunno how long the battery lasts, but in the short time I had it before gave it to dad, it never turned off .. dunno now how long battery lasts.
I don't like the always on nature of it tho. While it's on, it must go into a power save mode for the sensor units, but the LCD display is always on.
Dad likes that tho.
Also for off roading, the non fixed nature of the head unit isn't ideal.
Works fine in a Peugeot driven by an old bloke. It just sits on an anti slip mat on the dash. I did eventually stick it down with some 'yellow tack' too tho.

Other than after a few hundred klms on rough outback tracks, never had my ciggie unit fall out. But I did wedge something into the cig lighter to hold it in tight, and more importantly stop it from drooping a little.
When fitted into the accessory 12 volt power ports I fitted tho, it's much tighter fit. So I think the loose fitting issue is due to the LR ciggie port.

Never thought to check the temps readings for accuracy properly.
I did do a quick test of both pressure and temp when I first got the unit, I'm happy with 1 or 2 PSI variance.
Can't say I've ever been alarmed that they show a large difference to any other tyre gauge.
Temp, I only ever checked with my IR gun what the temps were at that time. Never really again.
Can't remember how accurate they were back then compared to the IR gun, but don't remember them being wildly out if they were.

Screen is fixed. I can see the display ok. I'll rely on the audio alarm, as I'd rather concentrate on picking a good line.

RDA Black front rotors

Mounted the 110w solar panel on the rhino rack yesterday. The pioneer track system makes mounting things so easy.
