What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

I replaced the dud high beam leds, which had gone purple with leds that fit easily in the headlight. These ones are none too bright but.

Getting ready for a week working at the Shannons Adelaide rally. Clean out and vacuum again, oil and filter, drain catch can, check exhaust studs, degrease. Gave awning cover a coat of tautflex paint (cheap vinyl doesn't like our sun) to waterproof again. Ready to go play on some hills know.

If a new belt doesn't fix it , then you might be up for harmonic balancer

New belt with the rad last year. Harmonic balancer ay? Wonder how long bfore it spins off. She's old and weary and we are hoping for one last last hurrah - tow the boat to Bowen. If she can do another 5000km between now and 2nd week in January I'll be very happy. Then she can go and be rested or reassessed. In the middle of packing and hospital appointments right now. Not a good time for home mechanics.

I've had a look at this and the story teller says he'd had the squeak for about 9 months before locating the source and getting round to fixing it.

Maybe not good practice on my part but I think I'll wing it fingers Xd. Appreciate the advice, taken on board. I'll come back here very humble if it all goes to s*** on the journey.

I was almost run into by a VW Tiguan at a roundabout. Like my car is invisible or something.
I also started a big clean on the inside, with Armoral or equivalent. I still have some bit to do. I have to admit that this is the first time I have used armoral on the plastics. Cleaned the windows, inside and out. Three hours and still not done. Car looks really good but!
Removed some yellowing from the headlight.

I masked half of the headlight to see hoe effctove my super secret conconction was. You can see the difference. There are still pock marks on the RHS. I like to think of them as micrometeorite impact sites, but they are not.

Do not buy cheap leds. they are ****. I will be replacing the high beam leds, with regular filament globes. I wanted the leds as I did not like the idea of changing the globes every 2 years or so. The spread on high beam led is really bad. Low beam is ok.

Thye secrect concoction is Jiff. I guess a more abrasive substance could remove the pock marks. But then you could end up with several polishes with finer and finer grades.

I was going to reply to that effect, after having folowed the link to the ones you got.
Seen this many years ago on a motorbike(single headlight) and so have avoided them ever since.

But you don't have to spend two arms and two legs for half decent types either(like I did on my Philips LEDs).
Got my dad a set for his Ford Explorer having seen how good mine were on my D1.
Mine cost $200, the theory then was that as a test, the higher price would equal better result(and it did).
The cheapo brand Chinesiums ($50) I got for dads Exploder tho worked kind of just as well... just fitment was harder due to the design of the heatsink.

So my tip is to look for Philip's Ultinon types(the Philips will be in the $200 range). Stedi branded is a bit better in the mid $100's.
Can't remember the Chinese brand(just generic I guess) that I got for dads tho. The issue with these is usually the heatsink .. too big to fit between the headlight body and the D2's body(behind the headlight body).
The Stedi and Philips sometimes use the braided type heatsink, so fitment won't be an issue.

Note that it could be a ripoff/fake branded Philips from China, but the design type is the point of the link.

Also, don't know what you're preference for colour is, but mine is a more white white colour.
Don't like the bluer type commonly found on many modern cars, but absolutely hate the yellowy colour range of normal halogens now.

I think I got my Philips 2+ years ago now, and durability has been fine.
