The engine mounts do, as the hydraulics let go internally the rubber rests on the base, you can see it through the hole in the bottom from underneath the car.
There should be about 10mm clearance.
I have a pair of gearbox mounts I got off Mario a few weeks ago to go in after changing the engine mounts last year.
They look fine but they're 17 years old....

Started up 'the bros' D2 today to move it into shed to service it. Heard a rattle I heard before but could never trace, an on/off thing that didn't sound worrying, maybe a plasticky sound, like a very loose sound cover.
Nup! .. hand on cover didn't stop it, but the pressure I had on it made it worse and not on/off, but more on.
Poking around a bit more still couldn't detect where this rattly noise coming from. so motor off and my eye caught the serpentine belt at a strange looking angle on the RHS, near the tensioner.
With motor off now, I could put my hand down there and the stupid alternator was a little flimsily mounted. Ah! bro must have not tightened up something and it came loose, thinking a mount bolt or whatever. Hard to see it all with all the paraphenalia and plasticky covers and flotsam.
Damn near stripped the front of the engine down to bare metal, and noted that the alternator wasn't mounted at all.
Get the torch in there(still hard to see with the vacuum pump in the way) but :o alternator mounting bracket busted at the bolt holes!
Pulled it out and noted that it's more than likely been half busted(the rear) for a long while as the wear marks looked old and polished with a thick film of greasiness, but the front must have recently busted.
So I'm thinking that for the past couple thou klms it's been running loose like this, and we just hadn't noticed it.
We had done the fan bearing twice in the past 10K klms or so, the last time about 2-3K klms, and the belt tightened up fine, and straight as we confirmed multiple times having done the bearing.
So It must have been flexing just enough whilst running to stain the fan bearing loose in it's housing. Bearing feels fine, just loose again in the front cover.
Only upside is that I dodged the 'oil change bullet today' .. being the procrastinator that I am .. why do something today when you can easily let brother do it in a coupl'a'days!
Separation anxiety over, she's back home. A lot of dollars for no difference, prior to the fail to proceed event. [bighmmm]
New exhaust manifold, studs etc and finally no amigos on the dash as well from the shuttle valve switch replacement:)

So I cleaned the Gearbox area and started and waited, and here are some photos of what happened during first 10 minutes at idle. Didn't seem much, but once I arrive somewhere, it certainly leaves it's mark. This is beyond my know how of where it could be coming from ?
Any pointers, greatly appreciated. Matt.

odds on its coming from the outlet pipe fitting above . it has an "o" ring which fails over time. several members as well as myself have had major fluid loss because locking nut worked loose and dumped fluid everywhere . pete :-)
