I have read the blurbs and that is what elring themselves say (leave dry) as it apparently has a coating already applied.
Having said that I have also used copper spray on metal and composite gaskets since the day I found out the stuff existed and have never had any issues. I even have copper sprayed and re used Monotorque and normal composite head gaskets on the old holden donks both 6 and V8 and no issues.
It will be a few days b4 I clean the block surface and start to put it back together and the hylomar spray was an impulse buy to try out on a few other jobs so it is more a thought process at the moment. I am an opinionated type and I like to be backed up by my personal real world experience so if I spray it anyway it will be a ' let's see what happens' learning curve and I have the advantage of tools and mechanical nouse so am not at the mercy of a workshops' hourly rate if I screw it up and have to redo it.
Some engine builders even separate the gasket layers and spray the hylomar (very lightly) on each layer.
