The new filter comes with O rings that go around the pickup tube and top inlet feed into the tranny but the one I took out has no O rings? seems odd. I would have thought without them you would get air getting sucked in from higher up that’s not submersed in the oil. Maybe someone in in the past did a **** poor job.

New shoes , 16x8 30 offset dynamics's on some muds. 285/75/16, had to trim some of the side step and the inner part of the lower door sill plastic that runs down the car. I feel like driving over every thing now. happy days. Also will have to mod the rear wheel holder to fit.

I am expecting some thing like that to happen, so far so good, Have not done the diff gears its next on the list, I don't mind the lower RPM but when on the freeway the ratio its making now feels more useable.

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

    As per my pics above…

21 years on 4” lift and 33s with 4.11s and VNT.

The rear rotoflex is the original part! Only the front diff required replacing a few years back.

Only just blew the rear diff a few months ago, and that was my Son driving.

Not so much what I did TO the Disco, but what I did FOR it. I finally got Microcat working on Windows XP in a VirtualBox VM on my Mac. All I have to do is find out how to use the bloody thing. It's not exactly intuitive but when I figure it out I'll be able to identify all sorts of part nos which may or may not help.

Well done, I couldn’t get that working on my pc. I use an online version.

The standard 2 gear diffs tend to flog out the pin bore in the carrier which then creates chaos and destruction inside the diff.
Replacing the entire centre with an ATB or locker ensures reliability.

The most common failure of the diff is that during excessive wheel spin with one wheel the lubrication on the cross pin fails and it begins to rotate and spits out the circlip holding it in place. The cross pin then contacts the case and bye bye diff.

Yep. Heavy right Welly and severe slip-grip situation will toast it!
