Another opportunity for someone smarter than me with a 3D printer.

I would love to have one, but I would not have a hope in hell of ever being able to use one.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The blue doesn't show up like that, the iPhone camera amplified it. The pointers and numbers do show up, but if I let the fuel drop so the low fuel light comes on it's really hard to see the actual gauge, they are that dim. I don't mind it, but I would still change it to green if I could find the LEDs, although looking for them hasn't been high on my list of priorities.

Where did you get the gear to to dim them and is there much involved installing it?
The dimmers are relatively easy to find.

I think I have some spares.
Wiring should be easy to do.
I found some on ebay a few years ago. search for AMR2745, and if you do, look for the ones being sold with full wiring, that is not just down to the plug, but also the female plug past the plug end and some wire beyond that too. will make it easier to install in the long run.

On the D1 it was dead easy to do ... plug it in and play! .. cutting out the dash pod for the rheostat was relatively easy. A bit fiddly as it has to be just right for the wheel on the rheostat to turn properly.

If/when I get a chance to get it done on one of mine, I'll definitely post the pics and words what I'll do, and it's not overly complicated.
The problem is , which D2 do I do it on?

I currently have two, and one will have to go soon. I don't need 5 cars all up.

I don’t have the dimmer. I would have liked to have one, but now I don’t need it and if I did anything I would probably make it brighter. I know that the photo suggests the opposite but it really is not representative of what it’s like.

True. In fact blue is a terrible colour for pretty much any light. Our eyes are not designed for it. Mine is so dim, and I don’t drive on my instruments, so it doesn’t really bother me, but I will change them at some point. Hadn’t thought about red, although it is the colour used in situations where retaining night vision is vital. The bulbs are cheap. Not sure my binnacle will survive another removal though. Very, very brittle.

there are plenty of fibreglass replacement options out there these days for the binnacle.
