Comes down to personal preference really, I mean some people think the xrox looks goodmy ARB has survived a big strike and I prefer the style so that's what I get

Good idea I have a buggered arm so I had No choice but to have them fit mine, Unfortunately.No. I don't pay people to work on my cars if I can avoid it. The $200 I save and the peace of mind having it done right is enough to convince me to do it myself

I prefer the look of the ARB on the Defender, and it's copped literally scores of skippy hits, including a couple of big ones at 90km/h.
The bar (and chassis) survived well.
I think I've convinced myself I prefer the TJM on the D2
Or I could go for a Sahara bar.
Interesting aside.
The smash repairer reckoned the "old Disco" was as tough as nails "unlike the new Hilux's, Rangers and Colorado's"
He said the smallest of hits (like the one I had) and the rails are crumpling, it's either extensive work to repair or a write off.
I suspect it's to do with ANCAP, but interesting nonetheless.
i was watching some of those 4x4 infomercials on ch 44 and they did a tour of the ARB factory.
the expensive ones are make here
the cheaper ones are made overseas.
the ARB guy said we understand paying 2k for a bar for 5k car isnt to everyone liking. so we offer a cheaper alternative for the older makes and models.
personally i think ARB are overrated. good bars but not excellent bars.

Anecdotal, I know, but the tree guy that came here recently had a D2A. It had no front bar at all, so naturally I asked him why. He said he got a little bit stuck in the paddock on his farm ( mud ), so went to winch himself out. He winched the XRox off the front of the vehicle instead. Quite a bit of damage to the chassis ensued. The bar was fitted by the distributor. Seems that the mounts were poorly engineered for the D2. The bar itself was fine, he said. I would be having a good, hard look at how one was mounted before I paid my $$$.
