    PAS Fluid capacity

    Hello
I have searched RAVE, and the internet, I am unable to find out the capacity of the PAS. I want to remove and replace the fluid and I need to know the capacity to determine how many changes are needed to replace 80% of the fluid.

    Thanks

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

    spreadsheet time

Well, assuming the PAS has a capacity of 1 imperial quart, 1.1L and we replace 200mls per time.

3L of PAS fluid will reduce the amount of the original PAS fluid to 4.4%

    Cheers

Put 2l of fluid in one bottle, undo the return pipe to reservoir, clog the return port of the reservoir with something, direct the return pipe into a cannister, ask somebody to start the engine while you poor the fluid into the reservoir and to be fast when you tell him to stop it when the 2l is over, redo the connection and top up... that's how i did and worked a treat.

AND, if you use clear tubing to extend the return hose, you can easily see when the fluid coming back from the circuit is perfectly clean. If the present fluid has been there for quite a while, there will be a very distinct, and quite sudden, change in colour. You can take that as being effectively complete replacement.
