Trimming of steering bump stops
The thread below, talks about the steering bump stops that screw into the back of the wheel hubs to limit the steering lock. Apparently on some D2s LR fitted longer stops than necessary, increasing the turning circle.

I identified that I had the longer stops on my D2a, with 16" wheels and 235 tyres, the turning circle was abysmal, meaning 2 attempts to get into a lot of parking spaces. There was a significant can between the tyres and trailing arms at full lock.
Once I had my 265/70/16 tyres fitted, I used an angle grinder to cut a good 10mm off the stops, then wound them out slightly to avoid any tyre rub on the trailing arms. You could probably get away with cutting 5-8mm off.
Now the turning circle is really pretty good, so I thoroughly recommend it, even with 265 tyres.

Just be sure that the steering hits the bump stop on full lock before the steering box hits its limit.
I know when I did mine I had to add a couple of washers to the LH side to prevent the steering box clunking at the end of its travel.
I recall reading somewhere that when dealers did the adjustment, they checked that the steering box was centred before doing it.

good point, especially if the steering box is not centred.
Mine squashed the tyres against the radius arms before the box limit was reached.
