Service interval w/ full synth oil and 10ppm Diesel??

eems like the consensus is to halve the service interval for the Td5 (20.000km by the book)...

But I buy high quality oil (shell helix ultra 5w40) and only use 10ppm Diesel. This combination is quite expensive here in Brazil so I was wondering if the 10.000km service is the norm even if you use high quality oil/diesel

    Thanks

What's the price of an engine failure compared to the oil and filters? I change my oil about every 12,000km; full synthetic and all filters. Cheap insurance.

Well that kinda answer my question... I thought one should do the changes every 10.000km but you say that changing it every 12.000km is still good enough for preventing engine failure.

Wait a sec. You do the changes every 10.000km with SEMI synthetic. Even if I buy FULL synthetic, am I paying more for nothing since I cannot change the oil in bigger intervals?

I know under what conditions I drive my vehicle. Not extreme usually (ie not driving on sand or bumper to bumper traffic) so 12k is fine. I don't know what driving conditions you use the car in , so what works for me may not for you. If you drive it hard and in lots of traffic then 10k, if one a highway mostly then 20k is most probably ok.

Are you using full synthetic oil? And ultra low sulphur diesel?

Read the service book. They dont just put random numbers in it for some thing to do. 10k for oil and rotor filter, 20k for main filter. Or do both at 10 in average driving. TD5 was designed for all types of diesel fuel grades. and full synthetic is what is recoed 0w-40 or 5w40 , b2-b3

Really? The maintainance check sheet has 20k for oil and cetrifugal filter and 60k for main filter. For all models from 02my on.
    sheet is LRL 0338EX(2)
