Had very similar issues with the Brigade td5, no speedo just like you said. It turned out to be a blown the alternator fuse and one of the battery clamps had come loose, the stupid ones with the hand tightening knob.
I hope your fix is as simple.

I think its all voltage related,,
so make sure its charging properly. These things are set up for a calcium battery.
except the SRS light,
that will be the yellow connector under the driver seat.

Do you access to a multi meter ? , should be able to start with the simple issue's of battery voltage , is the Alt charging , then you can follow the negative side and check for earth issue's, check some fuse's and then start looking more deeper into it.
Where about's are you ? Palmerston, humpty doo, or further south.

Did a VIN check when purchased and came up clear.
Got access to a multi-meter today
So things checked now:
Brake lights are working.
Main Alternator fuse is OK
Alternator defiantly not putting out power.
Ground points behind LH head light ok
Have noticed the ECU has taken a knock from the jack coming loose at some time in the past, doesn't look too major just a dent in the cover.
What a strange place to store a large heavy piece of metal, next to the cars brains???
We are in berry springs.

HD Mechanical at Humpty Doo are closer than the Nightcliff Service Centre.
Dan is very helpful and has a few Land Rovers pass through the workshop so give him a go if you are thinking of taking it somewhere.

thats youre engine ECU
your trans Ecu (from memory its been a while) is under the passenger seat and the BCU is up behind the glove box area

If your Alternator is not charging I think that will be majority of your problems. from memory the D2 doesn't handle low voltage very well , and that would most likely be why all the lights and gauges are doing weird stuff , the car is most likely trying to give power to only the parts that require it the most.
You could try charging the battery to full charge then leave it hooked on and start the car , see if with it sitting you can get the car to bring the same type of issue's up on the dash.

Hi There,
If you go with Ean's suggestion make sure the battery charger has a bit of "grunt", would suggest something better than a 5 amp KMart brand.

Even after you fix the alternator--
you will still need a fully charged batt to start it. The TD5's are a bit fussy with batt voltage.:angel:
I would think something modern rather than grunty in the charger department, the longer and smaller the charge the better when it comes to batts,,
However, you may not have days!:D
