Try to help these guys out today.
The guy posting is not the guy in trouble......
Its a friend who has brought this Disco a few weeks before travelling up here. He is travelling with his dog and has several serious medical problems.
I do have a 2nd alternator that we could have fitted, however after talking to the owner and his given medical condition. I suggested he may be better taking a plane home. he`s not enjoying the heat and humidity here.
He said the Disco looked like it had some new paint before and the ECU had taken a knock. That the dash lights stay on after being switched on. The tacho was the most reliable thing on the dash? He also said he heard a squeal from under the bonnet. This could have been the alternator or some other bearing etc.
Not sure if the Alternator will fix all the problems with this vehicle. It may do, but not sure. Bigger concern is if it doesn't fix it, then he could be stuck in the middle of no where in 40 odd degree heat with a heat condition etc.

IF its needed I'm swinging up on the 25th, I can arrange a day earlier if needed.
if he heads southwards I can lay on an emergency stopping point here, this kind of fault will show in the 300K to here
watch the oil line and discharge barb on alternator removal.

Thanks for the reply's and NTguy for his assistance.
Ended up a lift back to Vic on the back of a truck is the best option for this one, far to many electrical gremlins to tackle with limited access to parts.
Thanks again guys:)
