Thread: Nanocom and Speedo different speed

There is a setting in nanacom to adjust for different size tyres. What you are seeing is a speed different error. I found the easiest was use the gps to find the actual speed and fiddle with the nanacom settings so it read true speed. Note that it cannot alter the speedo readings though, you will just have to read the nanacom. Having said that once you know the error amount it is easy to mentally add or subtract it from the speedo reading. I drove the falcon for years with a 20mph error after I installed a celica 5speed and never had a prob.

Mine is the same. Have 265 75 16's on and speedo is 10% out. Used to use the nanocom or Gps to monitor speed but you know what speed you're going anyways. In the nanocom you adjust a setting relating to tyre size, from memory mine was 1.1 and nanocom then matched the gps

Just to clarify here....

You can use the Nanocom to adjust the speedo for oversized tyres? ie speedo correction devices have just been made redundant?

No and no.

The setting in Nanocom only adjusts the road speed display on the Nanocom screen. The speedo in the dash is unaffected.

Just bought a Nanocom Evo, its road speed is about 10% out. At 100 it reads 113, I have previously checked my speedo with GPS and the overhead speed indicators in Victoria and they all agree, my speedo IS correct, Nanocom is not.

My tyres are standard size and quite worn so certainly not oversize. (Argh, this site is set for American spelling, it's tyres not tires!)

I run the Nanocom full time on a windscreen mount and have the speed dialled in to be accurate on the 315's, its brilliant. They're a great bit of gear to have running all the time so you spot temp creep etc that the car wont do on its own. I was able to spot a very subtle boost leak that I would likely have not notice otherwise because of it. Love it!
