    Brake light fuse

Hi guys having the problem with the brake light fuse

What happened is a friend at work was stuck so I pulled a 5amp fuse from a completely different circuit to get him out of trouble and thought nothing of it until the following day when I was told I had no brake lights so I replaced the fuse and touched the brake pedal and pop blew the fuse.

So I checked the switch and for resistance and found it lower than it was meant too plus the back was cracked so ordered a new one and installed and pop blew the fuse again.

So far I have replaced all the rear lights and I've also disconnected the trailer plug wiring thinking it was them and still I blow the fuse, I blow the fuse even with no globes in the rear lights so does anyone have a clue what to look for next?????

BTW the 5amp fuse that I gave my friend has nothing to do with the brake fuse as with the brake fuse blown the 5amp circuit still has power

    Its a TD5 manual 2003

Unplug the connectors from the clusters(including the high mounted light) and check then, if it doesnt blow plug them back one by one untill it blows then you know where the trouble is, if the fuse blows with unplugged clusters too then it becomes complicated cos you'll have to isolate the shorting part... do you have RAVE? i'll tell you where to start then cos you need the connector views
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Didn't get a chance today to have a look but hopefully tomorrow, I don't have a dedicated rave for the d2 so I will have to get one from dave's

    All fixed

Lets just say the previous owner loved to use black wire every bloody where, so the wire under my brake pedal which I thought was an earth (it had been cut) actually ran the length of the car to the rear brake light power wire
