    Can you turn a 4HP22 into a 4HP22E

Ok, this is probably a really stupid question, but can you turn a 4HP22 into a 4HP22E?
What would need to be migrated from the E version?
I ask as I have a potentially dodgy 22E, but an okay 22 lying around.
I guess it's likely that what's not working so well on the E is what needs swapping
    Cheers

No. A 22e and a 22 cases valve body pumps and converters are different.

I should clarify that there maybe interchangeable hard parts like clutches and planetaries however that would have to be confirmed with part number comparisons I'd say.

tail end of the box internals and bolts ups once the casing is complete are compatible. (you know the stuff that almost never fails.)

you can put a complete 22e in place of the stock 22.

the front end is different and IMHO most of the stuff that gets killed is up the front end of the box so i cant think why you wouldnt replace it with the 24/24e stuff

    Hi There,
So this gearbox related however slightly off the original question, you talk about killing things in the gearbox. So my gearbox, the changes up are smooth however some of the changes seem to happen quickly and others especially from 3rd to 4th seems to take longer than it should. Coming down the gearbox has a slight jump from 3rd to second and an almost indiscernible bump from 2nd to 1st. Sometimes the coming down is all smooth, doesn't happen all the time. I have changed the oil and the filter in the gearbox. The oil wasn't spotless, wasn't black and didn't smell burnt. For a short while after the oil change the gearbox was all smooth. However on the way up I still have these different changes some quick and 3rd to 4th that seems to take an extra long time to jump up.

Just wonder if this is around the front end you talk about killing............
    Cheers Marty.

the typical failure of the front end means you have to drive it as a manual by selecting 1 to get moving and then working it to second. it will then continue to operate as normal until you stop.

random shifting faults like you describe are sometimes tied to the maf/map readings being off due to contamination and feeding duff gen into the ECU.

    Hi Dave,
Can I reset the ECU with my Faultmate from Blackbox or does this require something more intrusive?

    Cheers Marty

the auto ECU learns, leave it alone, if the sensors for the MAP/Maf are throwing bad numbers there may not be a fault to clear.
