You really need to get some proper diagnosis done using a diagnostic scan tool like nanocom etc. Check the members with diagnostic equipment section for your nearest one. Many of these faults while actually driving along are also to do with actual transmission problems like tc lock clutch failure or a clutch set with excessive clearances . I have to warn you that 200k is getting close to the 4hp22e gearboxes' end of lifespan.
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    PM sent.

Lots of info here about MS lights,, pretty common thing as these cars get older. As long as you dont have to replace the switch the fix is usually fairly cheap.

    Hi bov17
I have been through this before with my MY02 D2 with the MS lamps,
I had went to the trouble of taking my XYZ switch apart and cleaning it etc, (nothing wrong here, but felt good to check), if you decide to do this, note you should not be able to start your D2 in any gear other than in the P position.

Back to your MS lamps, if it is any thing like what I have experienced,
Give your main battery a full charge and give it another go,
failing this, replace your main battery!
You may find you have the cranking amps to start your D2 but the charge holding capacity of your battery maybe depleted.

I recommend to give this a go first

I will borrow a good multistage charger and give it a charge and see where it goes.

I think for prosperity I might replace it anyway.

Smaller than the LR recommended battery. LR recommend 110 AH capacity.

    N70 is around 90 AH.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

There are 18 ''official'' reasons for flashing M+S warnings, 15 of them are together with limp mode, 2 with no aparent effect and 1 which will let it operate only in economy mode... low battery power and XYZ switch are the most common but it's possible to be any of the many so the best is to read the stored fault code and if there isnt one it means it's battery voltage or old/low oil related

the list of faults is in in RAVE - Workshop manual - Automatic gearbox - Operation (DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 44-19)/(page 816 in my version)

Ok. So we put a scan tool on it. Nada. Nothing. Haha

Have now pulled the xyz off. Stripped cleaned was gunk in it but not so bad. Main observation was the pins that actually press against the board were hardly touching.

Cleaned them adjusted to contact properly. Put back together sealed her up.

Checked the air con drain pipe. Has already been extended. Win.

Put back together and had alignment issues. The old man helped align it and now NO LIGHTS.

    Yet.

So will take her for a good drive tomorrow. I have ordered a second hand unit in case and will replace the battery anyway with a bigger unit.

    What does everyone else run?
