Ok...found reason for vibration that was slowly getting worse....

After i thread lock and wind the nipple back in anyone want a reconditioned greasable unis shaft for a bargain?

The new shaft has a couple of degrees for angle on the bigger unis and the splines are much longer. About the same weight...not that much in it.

    Cheers

Now that you have pulled it apart make sure you put it back together EXACTLY on how you separated it, as it was balanced as an assembled unit. (if you refit it and the yokes are say 180 degs out )

I would hang on to that one as a spare. Then again, the clutter in my garage reflects that thinking too.

RE the TW, All Depends on how you treat it. I had a customer come back with a busted one. It left him in a predicament out in the high country. He ended up driving out on front wheel drive only and had to winch himself up inclines as as he couldn't make it on front wheel drive.
They are not indestructible/bullet proof. He did tell me he gave it a hammering.

I figure the original LR shaft lasted me 300k and 2 rebuilds so i am thinking this shaft should go longer.

Took it for a spin and vibes gone and smooth...no lash either so other shaft despite rebuilds must have just been worn.

    Cheers
