    Cylinder 5 Peak charge long

Hi guys, My 99 td5 disco has been running like a clock........ for too long , it seems.
Coming home yesterday it dropped no, 5 cylinder. I got out my trusty Nanocom evo and it tells me it is .
Code 27.5 " peak charge long." Now what the hell does that mean?
I have another TD 5 engine in the shed that died when my oil pump **** it's self.
Do I need to change out the injector ?

Any oil in the ECU red plug or in the head loom connector? in many cases the injector loom is causing this kind of fault codes especially if it was changed with aftermarket at a point

    No oil, I checked.
I checked out the loom engine to ECU today and all seems OK. I have pulled the errant No, 5 injector and replaced with another injector. Will finish the job tomorrow as I still have to remove the viscous fan and adjust the no 5 injector push rod. and of course torque the nuts.
I find it hard to come at the price everyone wants for a new loom from engine to ECU. Gee it is only a bit of wire and a few plugs.
The silly thing is it goes like a rocket before it drops the cylinder again but it is getting worse.
Tomorrow is another day and I will see what transpires with the new injector/
I will let you know when it is sorted.

    Hi Worane,
Unlikely to be the injector, more likely the injector loom. If you have a spare from your other engine try a swop. I am sure you know to programme the replacement injector, sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs.
    Good luck,
    Nick

Yes good idea Pippin Thank you for that idea.
I will pull the rocker again tomorrow. God, How I love doing that!
I have two known harnesses that I will try.
I have coded the injector and that is all good thanks.
I will report back when I have finished the job tomorrow.
I was told these cars turn men into mechanics and that is so true.
    Regards, Nick.

Thanks Pippin , it seems you may be correct about the injector loom.
I swapped it out for the one in the other motor and have taken a run of about twelve kms. So far so good. This time it came home on five cylinders.
Tomorrow I will drive it further.
Thanks to all who have answered with suggestions.
    You Pippin get the cigar!
