    Td5 engine mounts inspection

Hi all, chasing some vibration issue in the wife's 2004 td5 discovery.. And seems like more vibration at idle than my td5 defender.. My question is there any visible inspection you can look for on the factory td5 engine mounts that's could point to a failing mount..

    Cheers in advance

Slide underneath the car and look at the base of the mounts if the rubber is close to the hole or on it they have collapsed

I had mine changed today (gearbox mounts as well). It wasn't bad before, it's a Td5 thing vibrations .. There's 12yrs and 185k on the clock. When I picked it up and started it, there was noticeably less vibration at idle.

My mounts weren't stuffed. They'd sunk around 10-12mm maybe and the rubber wasn't too near the hole ... But I guess age and fatigue take their toll. It's much smoother across the rev range. Very nice

I used genuine engine & gearbox mounts.

Just replaced mine last night, was sitting on the rubber both sides alot of the chassis vibraion has gone now, was more noticable when towing. Had to borrow a 3/8" drive 18mm socket to fit the nuts. Never came across an 18mm nut or bolt in all my years a working on cars. Also found the powersteering pipe rubbing on the block and more coolant stains while under there......
