    Random issues

    Hey guys.

Couple of random things happening with the d2.

First. Temp gauge. Wtf. Are they accurate cause mine sits perfectly still just above half all day.

Is that normal? Fan comes on sometimes when in traffic and going up hills but thats about it.

Second. Water noise. Sounds like it is flowing through the back of the dash when taking off sometimes.

Third. Random ticking noise coming from aircon fan?

Fourth. Gearbox service. Ive read just over 5lt but local oil distributor book says 9lt. Can anyone clarrify. Its an auto td5.

    Cheers!

Should be half prerry much on the hammer...will stay there from about 60 degrees to an engine cooking 120. Get an Ultraguage or similiar.

Trickling - air in heater matrix.

Fan probably paper fallen behind glove box.

    Cheers

Electronic temp gauge, unfortunately doesn't react to an overheating engine very well.An 'engine saver' is the way to go.A search on here will explain.

Air in heater matrix, system needs a good bleed, search on here will explain all.It needs to be done a certain way.
Needs to be done ASAP or may damage head if left as is.

    Good luck with it all.

    1. - yes normal
    2. - don't know
    3. - don't know
    4. - the 9ltr is for a total refil.. It's 5 ltr with a drain from sump service, as the rest is still in lines, etc.

1: as mentioned will sit at half from 70 - 120 degrees
2: water noise , air in system either requires just bleeding ( good) to head gasket ( not so good )
3:leaf or debris from not having any filter material left in a/c intake
4:as mentioned 9 litres is dry fill , 5 litres for a service , if you get a ryco kit the part number is rtk 30 from memory

thanks guys - have the gearbox service kit coming filter seals etc.

Will search to bleed the system and check that out

for temp there are a few options i can see after searching around last night will have to see which one is the most preferred device for the job.

Hopefully an easy fix for the ticking too!

    thanks again

    Auto box filling
It must be filled with the engine running other wise you might only get a false fill capacity and be a couple litres short.
Put your car on level stands, fill the trans until it is level with the fill pug, start it up and run, have an assistant run thorough the gears a few times slowly. Then whilst it's still running keep filling the extra fluid in until you get a 5mm bead of fluid overflowing, then fit the fill plug.
    Cheers, Mario
