    TD5 Radiator O.E.M or not ?

    Gday All,

The father in laws TD5 has a leaky radiator , he did well to get it to last this long having towed the palace behind it for a few laps of oz.

    So ,

Refit a O.E.M or are the after market style ones even better. When I replaced the radiator in mine I went original but never kept the car much longer to see how it went.
    Anybody recently done a change.

    Car is a 2004 auto.

    Cheers Ean

Seems to be a lot of aftermarket ones available but not many original equipment , that's most likely due to the age of them these days.

    Thanks and Cheers Ean

I have been here, and concluded that given such an expensive bit of kit (the engine) relies on this part...OEM it was.

I busted a hose outlet on mine playing around with when I was still in Gove Ean. As far as I can remember I ordered a replacement from Berrimah Radiators.

That unit is still in it. The vehicle took our camper trailer to the Kimberley in 2015 and also towed a 17' off road van to Brisbane and back last Christmas and it is still going strong.

PS My memory may not be correct and I may have got it from Karcraft - can't find any paperwork for it.

I will just get an OEM job and be done with it , if he still has the car in 12 more years we will worry about the next option.

Gday Ean we replaced ours late last year and I got the all aluminium off eBay from WA and its pretty good, the best thing is if it develops a leak it can be repaired. The only thing I had to do was modify 1 mount on the intercooler so it would fit, you can get from the UK 1 that has a new intercooler with it for another 150 from memory and I should have got that.

    Ean,

I fitted one from Island 4x4 in Feb 14 and have had no issues with it. I think it was a Nissen brand radiator.
