I don't recall reading anything about that. I'll have a look tonight. I'd guess that chains on drive wheels would be SOP.

Always on low traction (slippy) surfaces lock the CD. If you wait until you need it, it may be too late.
As for snow chains on all four wheels. I might need themone day.
And the car will look better with 2 pairs.

Get chains that fit the tyres. Learn how to fit them correctly and practice fitting them somewhere it isn't bl00dy cold. Practice fitting them with gloves on, 'cos trust me, you'll want gloves on when you have to fit them. In Vic., the ARC will require you to carry them, but probably won't make you fit them. And. I agree with MR LR, things would need to be extreme to need all four wheels fitted. I'd go so far as to say that the road would be closed if it was that bad. The ARC always jump early on that stuff.
CDL MUST be locked. Mine is set to turn off the TC and ABS. However, having driven to Buller and Hotham and Falls and Buffalo in coaches for years, it's fair to say that I won't be seeing you up there. Seen enough snow for one lifetime. Hate the stuff.

The front has plenty of clearance, except at full lock where they'll touch the radius arms, but that's easy to avoid. Will rub on standard bumper bars though when you turn...
The rear is where there could be issues due to the door jambs, but I don't run them on the back.
You will probably find that the reason they want smaller tyres fitted on the front with snow chains is due to the differance in the wheel diameter with chains fitted on the front and not on the rear and locking the cdl. The front would tend to want to drag the rear tyres causing a slipping effect when driving and when on snow you wouldnt notice it, but if you get onto a hard surface then you would be stressing the driveline. IMHO. Of course this wouldnt matter if you had chains on all 4 wheels.

I ran Piranha diamond pattern chains on my D2a with 245/70/16's without any drama.
Only used them a couple of times - but worked without any nasty side effects. I seem to remember the front clearance was reasonably tight.
