    Well now with boost gauge I have 8PSI max

    If you read my other post you you will see i have fitted a ceramic manifold and wrapped the turbo on my 2002 TD5.
    BUT I have max 8PSI boost on my gauge. I thought that the gauge must be faulty but then I read up old posts and checked using the Nanocom and got 0.6, which is about 8 PSI accelerating hard up a steep hill.

    No faults logged.
    MAF reading 57-60 at idle and went up to about 300, probably because of low boost.
    AAP should be good as Nanocom agrees with gauge.

    Checked the wastegate with a syringe as air pump and it moves freely.

    I checked all the hoses to the boost modulator and they look good.

    Found my mandatory mistake by not tightening the hose from the intercooler to the inlet and it seems even worse after being tightened ( it didn't blow off so was reasonably tight) , so I guess that I suspect a collapsed hose, which I will check tomorrow and I will check the other boost hoses.
    No wonder the EGTs are high!
    One of the old posts indicated a blocked Cat, so If I can be fussed i will fit a new decat tomorrow if turbo hoses Ok.
    But the funny thing is until the last run the car felt perky and seemed to hit boost cut , but obviously didn't.
    I don't know whether it smoked or not.
    And no I didn't place any rags anywhere.

    Phillip with that blanket on can you see/ check that not only the pushrod from the actuator was moving but the circlip hadn't come off the pin and it isn't connected to the wastegate anymore? I have seen this on a td5 before.

    ^^^+1 , also seen this before , but yep, could be the extra boost has finished off the turbo to intercooler pipe hose if factory hose is still on, also if you've just fitted the boost gauge, double check the fittings , hoses

    Justin wins the cigar.
    The circlip had come off the wastegate.
    I must have pulled it off when I was wrestling the turbo out of the way to fit the manifold and the arm fell off later as the circlip was not inside the blanket.

    PS any idea what size the circlip is?
    I have some wire wound in there but would be good to have a spare.

    I now have 18PSI peak .Yay! And the EGTs seem to be lower

    Do you think it is worth tweaking for a bit more or will it be too close to the boost cut?
    All suggestions welcome and thanks all for the help so far.

    PS , I found a weird thing when I was looking at the oil pressure switch because the convoluted cover had rotted off.
    The black wire goes nowhere. It just stops about 300MM from the plug. The actual ground is via the block according to RAVE and the oil light works with no black wire. They must have got a special deal for injection plugs with 2 wires >LOL.

    Phillip there is only 1 wire. The black goes nowhere and if you peek into the switch there is nly 1 terminal anyway...😯.
    I have a few of those circlips spare however I'm about 3000km from them and i can't remember what size they are anyway, sorry😑.

    Don't feel bad happens a lot as they lose their temper from getting so hot and some even rust badly and just fall off when they are touched with pliers..

    Thanks Justin, I went to my favourite nut and bolt shop and bought a couple of sizes (6MM and 7MM?) one of which will be correct, along with some socket head screws so that I can fit that bloody 2nd battery tray more easily . The LH side upper bolt is under/behind the rigid aircon pipe and a bugger to get a spanner on..
