2002 D2 TD5 manual. I have noticed that on pick-up from a gear change or off from the lights the vehicle is a bit slow on the uptake, then about 1800 rpm it's like someone threw a match on the fire, away we go.
Not having driven a TD5 manual beore only a 300TDI what I am seeing doesn't feel normal, the lag would be about 2 to 3 seconds under normal acceleration, not foot to the boards stuff.
I also have what appears to be a high rev missfire, subtle but it is there. I have checked the engine ECU there is no oil at the injector harness at the ECU.
So far I have checked nothing else.
Any ideas?

I don't have the foggiest notion about what could be causing the hi rev misfire.
My Td5 manual is as slow as a wet weekend below about 1800rpm. I compensate by keeping it between about 2000 and 3000 rpm where it goes pretty well. A Td5 is not the car to used to zip in and out of traffic methinks...:-)

The EGR is still there?, if it is this can cause that so make sure it's not clogged with muck, clean the MAP sensor(in the inlet manifold) anyway unplug the MAF and drive test it so also make sure that the wastegate is not stuck by grabbing the rod and moving it both sides, you must be able to push it toward the turbo about 15-20mm with some force then it should come back freely pulled by it's spring

EGR has gone, I'll check the MAF..... good idea. I've also de-catted the exhaust, thought that might have been a contributor. I'll check the waste gate opersation that was going to be my next port of call. If this is what it is thats fine, just checking that mine wasn't abnormally slow. My auto TD5 surprisingly seems "zippier", ah well, I'll check the MAF and go from there.

X2 for MAF Happened last week in blue mountains for me. Disconnect the plug and see what happens.
